Elfie, Sheltie, Sallie, Shellie, Self*

Author’s Note: The title of this poem is attributed to the spelling suggestions one gets, when having typed: Selfie in Microsoft Word. This is also alluded to in the last stanza.

The poem is meant to be read from top to bottom. A horizontal read however, also gives an interesting effect. However, the structure of this poem is meant to mirror the rectangular selfie picture, hence double spacing would not achieve the intended effect.

Editorial Note: The word “selfie” wasn’t a part of MS Word dictionary at the time Neharika Gupta shared this poem with us. It is by now, at least on our computers here, a recognised word. However, we find Neharika’s attempt laudable and still decide to publish the poem, belated though it may be.
