In my fully charged battery life youth, my bedroom blazes nightlight electric, my nursery rhyme records spin twilight warped, the gorilla’s cymbals clash a flat brass tune, the ACDC dark is spastic matchbox ultra bright. Outside, the sky is a hot sour super jawbreaker, outside, the wind cries nova soft.

Genelle is a 2015 MFA Writing and Poetics graduate of Naropa University. Genelle's first chapbook is Fallout, Saints and Dirty Pictures (little m Press, 2011).
